Appetite whetted? Read on…

In March 2019 a project was conceived seemingly out of nothing…

It was during the review of a masterclass program between team members from AstraZeneca and Indigo Medical that a “what if” question was thought out loud:

“What if we could create an educational video, aimed at HCPs involved in the execution of a particular type of biopsy in lung cancer patients”.

After every “what if” there should always then be a “why”.

Why?

  • Because of the real need to educate HCPs on how to perform the EBUS procedure safely whilst maximising the diagnostic potential of the samples collected.

  • Plus, the need to explain the procedure to the patient, in a patient-friendly way, using clear visuals and what to expect from the procedure.

Fast forward to 8 highly productive months later…

The team comprising of members from Indigo Medical, AstraZeneca, University College London Hospital and Angels & Demons finally hit “publish” on two cinematic YouTube videos: the first aimed at interventional bronchoscopists and the second for patients / caregivers expecting to undergo the EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscopy) procedure.

The videos employ a unique cinematic look-and-feel to keep the viewer engaged: with Top Tips, simple language and annotations for ease of understanding. Plus a look-and-feel and immersive soundtrack like no other medical procedure animation available on the public domain (and believe us, we’ve done our research on this).

The videos have also caught the attention of patients and HCPs on social media (actual quotes):

“I’ve always wondered and this video shows how an EBUS procedure is done. Amazing

“Useful for non-resp docs too!”

We are all super proud of the collaboration to get both videos over the line.

And what made this all the more spectacular was the fact that this was outside of each stakeholders comfort zone. However, each team member stepped up and delivered when it mattered most.
